i am back

beep beep boop boop

Yo

It’s been a minute.

Okay fine… it’s been many minutes. Like, “wait, who’s this guy again?” kind of minutes.

I’m Avro. Maybe this jogs your memory:

Yep, that weirdo who builds stuff in Notion for fun. Still me. Still weird. Just with a slightly better pushup form.

Today, I want to take you back to where it all began—and where this wild journey is taking me.

That was December 2022

I stumbled upon a video of Ali Abdaal. He was talking about this app called Notion.

I clicked. I explored. And just like that—I was hooked.

At first, it was just for class notes.

Next thing I knew, I was building dashboards for my hobbies, routines, anime quotes—basically everything that wasn’t on the syllabus.

Then I stumbled upon Buildspace n&w Season 5. That’s when AvroTheWizard was born.

Fueled by late nights and way too much coffee, I published my first Notion template:
“Ultimate Anime Home with Integrated Quote Tracker.”

I expected maybe 2 downloads. And for once, I was right.

But then… BOOM.

Out of nowhere, download notifications started flooding in. I was confused. what happened?

Then I found it got featured on Notion’s template gallery.

Within 2 weeks, it had 900+ downloads on Gumroad. From strangers. Real humans. Who liked it.

The Buildspace weeks were gone. Just when I thought I’d found my groove, two familiar villains showed up

One, the Uni curriculum
Two, the worse—perfectionism.

Every time I finished a new template, this little voice whispered,
“Hmm... not bad. But is it perfect?”

So I'd modify. Then again the same voice: "Still not good enough."

I was trapped in an endless loop. As a result I never published anything for months.

But I didn’t stop creating.

I built templates for:

  • daily reflections

  • tracking my habits

  • logging imperfections

  • capturing achievements

  • managing main & side quests (like real life is an RPG)

It changed the way I live. It brought clarity, direction—and surprisingly—discipline.

I even started:

  • coding seriously

  • learning Blender (because I found 3D animations really exciting)

  • tracking literally everything on Notion

I created a template to track my pushups and plank records. After 6 months of consistency now I can do 40 consecutive pushups and hold plank for 7 minutes🔥.

The only way to know how strong you are is to keep testing your limits. And that becomes easy when you track it & see it somewhere.

Now, I’m starting this newsletter to:

  • share my messy, creative journey & build in public

  • help you explore ways to track your life beautifully

  • show how productivity can feel magical (and human)

If that sounds like your vibe—stick around. Cool things are coming.

And if it doesn’t? That’s okay too. You can unsubscribe any time—no dark wizard curses, I promise.

If you’re more of a visual person, I post sneak peeks, messy experiments, and template drops over on Instagram too:
@avrothewizard – come hang out there if you're curious!

Quick favor before you go:

Are you still using Notion?
Hit reply and tell me. I'd love to know what you’re building (or procrastinating on😄). I’ll reply to you.

Talk soon,
Avro

P.S. The perfectionist in me is screaming right now. But I’m hitting send anyway. Progress > perfection.
